Wiener Hofburg Orchester - Strauss & Mozart Konzert
The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra’s Strauss & Mozart series combines orchestral music, opera singers and classical ballet. An ensemble of up to 40 musicians presents Mozart alongside the Strauss family, Franz Lehár and Emmerich Kálmán. Waltzes and polkas alternate with arias and duets from opera and operetta, with the light musical humour associated with the Viennese concert tradition. This is a selection concert rather than a complete staged opera.
The series uses different historic halls, including the Hofburg’s Festival and Ceremonial Halls and the Mozart Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus. The Mozart Hall has 704 seats across the ground floor and balcony; the Hofburg Festival Hall is distinguished by its monumental ceiling paintings. Your selected performance determines the actual venue, so check the hall and start time on your ticket. The sample program below illustrates the repertoire, not a fixed sequence or guaranteed cast.
