Wiener Hofburg Orchester - Weihnachts-Konzert in der Wiener Hofburg
The Christmas concerts of the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra take place in the Hofburg Festival Hall during the Christmas holiday period, traditionally from 25 to 27 December. Mozart arias and duets join Viennese orchestral and operetta favourites in a festive concert program. This is a classical concert, not a Christmas-carol service or a complete opera.
The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra performs with four vocal soloists, combining orchestral music with arias and vocal ensembles. The repertoire draws on the Viennese tradition of waltzes, polkas and operetta, including music by the Strauss family, Franz Lehár and Emmerich Kálmán. The setting is the Hofburg Festival Hall, a monumental hall of almost 1,000 square metres with ceiling paintings bearing Emperor Franz Joseph’s motto, Viribus Unitis. The pieces listed below come from an illustrative program: they are not a guarantee of the running order or individual performers on your date.
