Carmen at Vienna State Opera
Carmen at the Vienna State Opera
Georges Bizet’s Carmen is the most performed opera in the world — and at the Wiener Staatsoper its power is undimmed. The soldier Don José falls under the spell of the free-spirited Carmen, deserts his post and abandons his past, only to lose her to the bullfighter Escamillo. In front of the arena, jealousy turns to tragedy.
