Madama Butterfly at the Vienna State Opera

The young geisha Cio-Cio-San gives up everything to marry the American naval officer Pinkerton — who sees the wedding as a passing amusement. Through years of waiting, crowned by the aria “Un bel dì vedremo” and the Humming Chorus, Butterfly’s hope survives until the truth arrives in the harbour. Puccini’s most heartbreaking score.

Your questions, answered

How will I get my tickets?

Your e-tickets arrive by email together with your booking confirmation, and your payment is only collected once the booking is confirmed. Simply show them on your phone or print them out — nothing is sent by post. If a venue issues its tickets at the box office instead, the event page says so.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive about 30 minutes before the start time on your ticket so you can find your seat without hurry.

How long does it last?

About 165 minutes, unless stated otherwise in the description.

Is there a dress code?

There is no formal dress code. Most guests wear smart casual clothing; evening wear is welcome but not required.

What if my plans change?

Plans can change — just send us an email and we will help wherever the organizer allows it. Each organizer has its own conditions, which we summarize clearly for you.
