Mozart Concert Vienna: Compare Halls, Dates & Tickets

Mozart concert guide

For a Mozart concert in Vienna, start with the kind of evening you want: the Vienna Mozart Orchestra in the Musikverein, Mozart and Strauss in a palace setting, or a smaller chamber ensemble. The Golden Hall and Brahms Hall are different rooms, and a Mozart concert is not the same as a staged Mozart opera. Compare the performances below by date, hall and programme before choosing your seats.

Which Mozart concert fits your evening?

For a first visit, a mixed Mozart-and-Strauss programme offers orchestral music and familiar melodies. For a particular symphony, quartet or aria, start with the named works: the composer in the concert title does not guarantee that every piece is by Mozart.

  • Vienna Mozart OrchestraA costumed orchestral concert with vocal soloists. Choose the Golden Hall or Brahms Hall listing for the room you want, then check its available dates.
  • Mozart and Vivaldi at the MusikvereinA separate concert series from the Vienna Mozart Orchestra. Compare the named ensemble and programme for your date; sharing a venue does not mean sharing performers or repertoire.
  • Palace and chamber concertsConsider a Mozart-and-Strauss evening at Schönbrunn or a smaller chamber programme for a different setting. Check the exact hall, instrumentation and works, not just the building name.

Musikverein Golden Hall or Brahms Hall?

The Golden Hall is the large gilded hall associated with the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert. The Brahms Hall is a smaller concert room in the same Musikverein building. A ticket for one is not admission to the other, so verify the hall for your selected performance.

The Vienna Mozart Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic are different ensembles. A Mozart Orchestra ticket at the Musikverein is not a Philharmonic subscription or New Year's Concert ticket.

  • Golden HallChoose this when experiencing the famous large hall is a priority. Compare the view and category on the seating plan, especially on the sides or behind the stage.
  • Brahms HallChoose this for a smaller hall within the Musikverein. It has its own seating plan and availability; do not assume that categories match the Golden Hall.
  • Getting thereThe Musikverein is at Musikvereinsplatz 1, near Karlsplatz. Check the entrance and arrival instructions on your ticket, and leave time for the cloakroom and finding the correct hall.

Programme, costumes and concert length

Costumes describe the presentation, not the repertoire. Mozart overtures, arias or instrumental movements may be combined with Strauss waltzes and polkas. A highlights concert does not present a complete staged opera, even when singers perform arias from one.

Many orchestral evenings last around 90 minutes to two hours; chamber concerts and package visits can differ. Use the duration and interval information for the exact event when planning dinner or your journey home.

  • For a specific workCheck the published programme for the selected date. Do not infer that the Requiem, Eine kleine Nachtmusik or an entire symphony is included from the word Mozart alone.
  • With childrenCompare the minimum age, ticket rules, length and finishing time before paying. Reduced child or student categories do not automatically mean that every age is admitted.

Ticket prices, seats and booking checks

The listings show current from-prices, not one fixed Mozart concert price. Your total depends on the date, available category and any dinner or other package components. Compare equivalent seats and inclusions rather than assuming that the cheapest headline price buys the same experience.

  • View and seatingCheck restricted-view notes and whether you select a numbered seat or a seating category. Ask about step-free access or wheelchair spaces before booking if these are essential.
  • Confirmation and deliveryRead the delivery instructions and any confirmation requirements for your chosen event. An order acknowledgement is not necessarily the admission ticket; keep the final ticket and entrance instructions.
  • Arrival and clothingAllow about 30 minutes before the advertised start unless the event says otherwise. Smart casual is a practical choice; follow any event-specific dress or late-admission rules.
  • Changes and cancellationsRead the conditions for the selected ticket before payment. Do not assume that a fixed-date concert can be cancelled or moved because another concert offers flexible terms.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I book a Mozart concert in Vienna?

Compare the bookable performances on this page, including Musikverein options. Select the exact concert and date to see available categories and prices. For palace or church concerts, check which Mozart works appear in the programme.

Is the Golden Hall the same as the Brahms Hall?

No. They are separate concert halls in the Musikverein. A Brahms Hall ticket does not grant admission to the Golden Hall; choose the listing and date for the hall you want.

Is the Vienna Mozart Orchestra the Vienna Philharmonic?

No. They are different ensembles. The Musikverein hosts different performers, and a ticket for its Golden Hall does not by itself identify the orchestra or include the New Year's Concert.

Will a Mozart concert include only music by Mozart?

Not necessarily. Many concerts mix Mozart with Strauss or other composers. Check the programme for your chosen date, especially if you want to hear a specific work or a complete symphony.

How long is a Mozart concert in Vienna?

Many orchestral concerts last about 90 minutes to two hours, sometimes with an interval. Chamber concerts and dinner packages have different timings; the selected event gives the relevant duration.

Can I book a Mozart concert for tonight?

Only if a performance for today still offers tickets. Check the date and live availability on the event page; a recurring concert series is not a guarantee of seats every evening.
